Tour de Life

Tour_de_life_cover Back in February we told you about a really cool kid we got to meet during the Tour de California, Saul Raisin.  Saul is the pro cyclist who was in a massive crash in April 2006.  Although his doctors were pretty certain that he'd never walk again, Saul didn't really take their diagnosis to heart.  He's back on the bike, making the rounds at events like Interbike 2007 and even teamed up with cycling writer Dave Shields to pen his story, Tour de Life.  He was signing autographs at Interbike 2007 where he met Garmin's Peg.  You can read about Peg's experience on the Garmin Blog.  We're all looking forward to following Saul and his team, Credit Agricole, during the 2008 season!

Ironman Kona

Cece Back in May we told you about MB Tester Anthony Cece being selected to compete in the most prestigious Ironman, Ironman KONA.  The moment is fast upon Anthony, and we couldn't be more excited!  Tomorrow he will embark on one of the most intense adventures anyone could face.  Anthony will set out to conquer the 2.4 mile swim, 122 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run along with 1699 other triathletes.  Check out his training at his Public Digest.  Watch his progress tomorrow at the Ironman Kona 2007 official site.  And, as soon as we hear back form Anthony, we'll post his race details here!

Garmin at Interbike 2007

Team Garmin rode into Interbike 2007 this past weekend to show off the latest Garmin device, the Edge 605/705.  They had a blast this year getting in some great rides and presenting the new devices.  You can read all about the team's trip at Peg's Posts on the Garmin Blog

Offering Heart Rate, cadence, color maps, turn-by-turn directions and Power, the Edge 705 was a huge success.  This device will answer the requests (dare I say prayers!) of many cyclists.  Being able to offer Power with industry partners Quarq and SRM is a huge accomplishment; one we're proud and excited to offer!  This has been made possible with our ANT+ Sport wireless technology which allows devices from different manufacturers to work and communicate together. ANT + Sport is a product of Dynastream Innovations Inc, that was acquired by Garmin in 2006.

The Quarq CinQo power sensor will cost $1,195 available in Q1 2008.  With SRM being the "gold standard" in Power it will sell for a premium, price and availability haven't been released.

Two reps from SRM were stationed at the Garmin booth giving demos with Power.  Check out Garmin's own Peg in the video below.  I think it's a safe bet that if Peg had a bike that fit her, her Power would have been off the charts!
