Tour de Life

Tour_de_life_cover Back in February we told you about a really cool kid we got to meet during the Tour de California, Saul Raisin.  Saul is the pro cyclist who was in a massive crash in April 2006.  Although his doctors were pretty certain that he'd never walk again, Saul didn't really take their diagnosis to heart.  He's back on the bike, making the rounds at events like Interbike 2007 and even teamed up with cycling writer Dave Shields to pen his story, Tour de Life.  He was signing autographs at Interbike 2007 where he met Garmin's Peg.  You can read about Peg's experience on the Garmin Blog.  We're all looking forward to following Saul and his team, Credit Agricole, during the 2008 season!

For Those of You on Facebook . . .

While Facebook may not be the most entertaining site for some of you, a London developer (Matthew Underwood) built a really cool application that links your MotionBased activities to you Facebook profile.  That way, your friends can see what you've been up to the last few days.  Or, if you're out of commission or just being plane old lazy, they'll know that, too.  All of us at MotionBased have had a fun time playing with the application and sending it to other friends.  If you're on Facebook look for the MyMotionBased application and add it to your profile.  Make all your Facebook friends jealous of your athletic prowess!

For a discussion on this keen application, see the Forum Post.  For an example of what to expect with the MyMotionBased application, here's the shot:

Thanks to air9r for the millionth activity:

Bringing "Bike to Work" to a New Level

One of MotionBased's biggest fans and long time users was featured in his local paper a while back.  Since he's such a pioneer in alternative modes of transportation, we thought it fitting to feature TC Hazzard on the MBlog.

TC first uploaded a 4.69 mile run to MotionBased.  That was all the way back on 20 Dec 2003!  He began uploading regularly beginning on 9 March 2004 and hasn't let up since.  While TC rides his recumbent bike to work at least 4 times per week, he is an outdoor enthusiast with a Digest full of activities ranging from Running to Skiing to "Mowing"!

One of the most unique things about TC is that he doesn't ride just any bicycle to work.  He rides an encapsulated recumbent bike:

He's even got it tricked out MotionBased style!:

You can keep track of TC by viewing his Digest at tchazzard.motionbased.com.
